archi've Conference
Continuing on from the logo guidelines manual of the archi’ve conference, this project expanded on the initial brand and its values. With an emphasis on analogue creation in resistance to the digital age, the conference features interactive talks and show-and-tell style presentations from professionals across disciplines, alongside guided journaling exercises and tactile workshops. The deliverables of this project include (and appear in the order of): lanyards, a mail-out foldable poster, external banners, a two-day conference program, journal merch, and stickers.
Objective
Since the conference was geared toward people who already journal, I hoped to upgrade their experience by allowing people to share their own journaling process and be inspired by others’ journals. One charm of journaling is the material side, people being able to physically write, touch paper, and collect things within their notebook. Through my visual design, I wanted to accentuate that feature.
Execution
During this expanded phase of designing archi’ve, I carried on with the brand’s emphasis on the physicality of journaling. Looking into the variety of paper objects, I continued to be inspired by journal labels and file folders for the main imagery in the conference brand. For each booklet (i.e. logo guidelines manual and conference program) I used a variety of paper for people to touch and feel as they look through its contents. Even on one side of the poster, I used images of texture to entice people to touch it. As each element is meant for handling, the logo guidelines booklet, the folded poster, and the conference program, are all 8.5 by 5.5 inches (half of letter size).
